Baby Atticus should be making his way into the world in a couple weeks, and he’s going to have a super fun big brother to help take care of him! Mom and Dad found a rad clothing line after they decided on his name, and picked up some Atticus shirts for the session. Super love!

As I have gotten to know this family over the past 13 years, I have come to realize they completely embody the phrase “good neighbors.” Meet the Z family. They live right across the street from us, and I have forbidden them to ever move away. Seriously, guys. You can’t move. Ever.
They’re always here for us when we need help (which is more often than I care to admit).
They’ve let me in when I locked myself out. With my two-year-old stuck inside alone. Genius, I know.
They’ve taken all three kids at the last minute when Michael couldn’t make it home from work in time for me to leave to meet a client.
They’ve even shown up at my doorstep at 11pm with a roll of toilet paper, when I posted on facebook that we had not a scrap left in the house. Pretty much the most awesome use of facebook I have ever experienced.
This fall, their oldest son left for college. (That’s never going to happen to me, right? My kids are *never* going to be that old…) We were able to meet for a few hours on one of his last nights in town, and capture some family portraits before he launched off on his own.
In talking with them before the session, we discovered that they really enjoy doing mini-golf together as a family. So that answered our location question – The Big Backyard! It was such a beautiful location for a family session in St. Paul, right on the river. So many good textures, a great mix of urban and natural.
Thanks many times over, Z family, for all you have done for our family. For our neighborhood. For our community.
I absolutely love this last image of the four boys. I told them to come up with an album cover. They nailed it.

Great Photos! You have really captured them well. I especially like the one with the world map behind them, and the shots on the stairway. The family portrait at the railing is really cool, too.

Awesome photos! You’ve done a terrific job of capturing our St. Paul Family. What fun for all of you to do such a unique photo shoot. Your tribute to them as your neighbors was very special, and I know you are special to the Z’s as well.

Vivienne, sweet Vivienne. So very peaceful, so beautiful, so precious, and full of newborn smiles!
I had a lovely time getting to know her parents a little bit better during our session – it was so much fun to chat, and little Vivienne was so wonderful to photograph – she slept the entire session, and let us work all kinds of mischief…

I had to include some photos of their fabulous nursery – love all their little details, especially the sweet birds on the wall.

Oh, she is just beautiful and I love the family shots. They are show your natural confidence at being new parents and there is no mistaking the adoration in your eyes for your new baby girl. Great Job Mom, Dad, and Vivi!

I’ve known this beautiful family for a few years now – we met as moms a couple years ago at ECFE. She kept telling me that she wanted to book a session for her family, and I was thrilled when she finally did. Her four kids have the most amazing, alive, sparkly and mischievous eyes, and incredibly infectious laughs. We started off in their backyard… tackling and tickling, swashbuckling, tree-swinging, rocket-ballooning, belly-laughing… and then headed over to a local lake for the rest of the evening… such a fun outdoor portrait session! The perfect way to celebrate the end of summer.

I’m heading out this morning for our annual summer vacation to “the cabin.” Never the same cabin, but always the same dear friends. We’ll be spending the next 10 days relaxing, cooking, sitting by the water, making campfires, and enjoying the last days of summer. I’ll be returning emails and calls after I return on August 21nd.
