Happy Halloween to everybody!

We just got back from a rockin’ good time at the Southern Theater! Have y’all heard of The Bunny Clogs? Featuring Adam Levy of the Honeydogs, and joined today by Lucy Michelle, Aby Wolf and Jeremy Messersmith. Some sweet local talent here.

Yup, that’s about right.

They put on a Halloween Dance and Costume Party at the Southern, and we had a total blast. They’ve got a CD out – can’t wait to hear it!

Is that a banana playing guitar, you ask? Naturally.

One of my twitter peeps (who is a fabulous dog and pet photographer in the Minneapolis / St. Paul area – go check out her website) tweeted this yesterday: “If I could crush one photo belief it would be that a good family portrait has everyone looking straight at the camera. What would you pick?” (minus a few sporadic letters to make the twitter 140 character limit). I couldn’t agree more.

This family photo makes me so happy. No, everybody’s not looking at the camera. Yes, dad’s a bit fuzzy. But what a beautiful moment it captures – the joy of holding a leaf in the autumn sun… the pure adoration these two parents have for their little guy… the beauty of this simple moment being together.

What this photo didn’t capture was the leaf going into this little guy’s mouth – about seventeen times!

To me this is the perfect family photo.

Have you all heard about Mother’s Day? Not the holiday, the studio. Made for moms. They’re located in Chanhassen, MN, and they have onsite child care, all kinds of fantastic groups, classes and activities for moms, and even a deal with an adjoining salon where you can drop off your kids and go get your hair done. Or a manicure. Or a massage. Sound like bliss?

Mother’s Day is a special place for moms, where women can get together for classes and workshops, groups, and special events with child care available if needed.  The playroom, with themed activities and specialized care for children 3 months to 7 years, is open weekday mornings and for after-work workouts and Saturdays, too.

For moms looking to reconnect with school-age kids, we offer after-school yoga and crafts for families to enjoy together.  And for grand-moms we offer a new gentle yoga class.  Mothers at all stages are welcome at all activities.

In partnership with adjoining salons – Salon Essence and Nail Gallery – we also provide child care in conjunction with salon services, so your children are taken care of while you take care of you.

They will be holding an open house tomorrow, and at the open house you can register to win a free full session from gwendolyn waite photography! There’s a free Pilates class, tours and refreshments, and kids can show up in costume!
