beyond cheese: how to take better photos of your kids: tip 1

I am so excited to have been invited to lead a discussion at the WiseMamas group next month. WiseMamas is a group dedicated to supporting families interested in natural health. They meet on a monthly basis at Health Foundations Family Health and Birth Center in St. Paul to discuss a variety of natural health topics. This is a free event, and is open to the public, so please come and join us! Thursday June 10, 6pm Health Foundations Family Health and Birth Center 968 Grand Avenue Saint Paul, MN, 55105

I'll be talking about how to take better photos of your kids, using whatever camera you have on hand. The event will include an informal presentation on how to take better photos, a question and answer session, and a goodie bag for each registered attendee! Please visit the Wise Mamas facebook event page to RSVP and reserve your goodie bag!

Each week leading up to the discussion, I'll feature a new tip here on my blog about how to take better photos.

This week's tip: Turn off your flash!

Your camera's flash tends to blast your subjects with light, and they will end up looking washed out and pale. And very flat. Turn off your auto flash, and start looking at the quality of the surrounding light (more on that next week!). Your photos should improve dramatically.

Check back here over the next few weeks to learn more tips about how to take better photos of your kids (or grandkids, or friends' kids!) Subscribe to my blog using the link above, so you won't forget to check back!

Can't post without a photo... my beautiful Beatrice. No flash. :)
