As I have gotten to know this family over the past 13 years, I have come to realize they completely embody the phrase "good neighbors." Meet the Z family. They live right across the street from us, and I have forbidden them to ever move away. Seriously, guys. You can't move. Ever. They're always here for us when we need help (which is more often than I care to admit).
They've let me in when I locked myself out. With my two-year-old stuck inside alone. Genius, I know.
They've taken all three kids at the last minute when Michael couldn't make it home from work in time for me to leave to meet a client.
They've even shown up at my doorstep at 11pm with a roll of toilet paper, when I posted on facebook that we had not a scrap left in the house. Pretty much the most awesome use of facebook I have ever experienced.
This fall, their oldest son left for college. (That's never going to happen to me, right? My kids are *never* going to be that old...) We were able to meet for a few hours on one of his last nights in town, and capture some family portraits before he launched off on his own.
In talking with them before the session, we discovered that they really enjoy doing mini-golf together as a family. So that answered our location question - The Big Backyard! It was such a beautiful location for a family session in St. Paul, right on the river. So many good textures, a great mix of urban and natural.
Thanks many times over, Z family, for all you have done for our family. For our neighborhood. For our community.
I absolutely love this last image of the four boys. I told them to come up with an album cover. They nailed it.
