I will be setting aside a day to schedule some mini-sessions for the holidays. redheads :: minneapolis portraits

What is it about redheads? This family has the most amazing redheaded children. And not only redheads, but a set of twins as well! Some families have all the fun. We had a rockin’ good time down at the Mill City Ruins Park in downtown Minneapolis. I love this shot with the Gold Medal Flour mill. Now tell me, is it a crime to post a black and white photo of a redhead? I really waffled, but I love the texture in the black and white ones. The kids had such a good time exploring down by the river, then we wrapped it up with a treat from Dunn Bros coffee shop. Thanks for a great evening [K] family! Feel free to leave a comment – I love to hear what you think!

Stacy - These photos are so nice – love them all. I love the colors, too. :)

September 13, 2008 - 9:26 pm

gwendolyn - I usually do some color work on the photos, to make them a bit punchier, but I would say that this photo is pretty close to their coloring. I love how bright their hair is…

Charles Raymond - I don’t think it is a crime at all. Some of my most favorite pictures of my little redhead are in black and white.

I have to ask, is the contrast on the last picture just because of the coloring of the kids or did you use some sort of filter on that shot?

September 7, 2008 - 9:04 pm

Sara - Gwen, I saw you post on ILP. I’m a crazy mama just trying to learn how to take better photos…love your work!!!! I’m also a fellow Minnesotan so you can bet I’ll be checking your blog frequently:)

r&r :: minnesota portrait photographer

Well, I’m back from a placid week of r&r in Shawano Wisconsin. We rented a cabin on a channel which runs between Shawano Lake and the Wolf River, and immensely enjoyed the pontoon which came with the cabin. The lake was clear, sandy, and shallow – fantastic for all of the kids. This was our yearly anniversary trip – this year being our 13th (!!!) – and we’ve made a tradition of renting a summer cabin with our dear friends from college who got married just a week after we did.  Now the kid count between our two families is up to 5 – the adults are sorely outnumbered, both in number and sheer volume! I was in heaven playing with my new camera with so many beautiful children. Here are some photos from the trip…

to the lake :: minneapolis child photographer

We’re heading out to the lake cabin on Friday for a week, for a much-anticipated, much-needed family vacation. We’ll be meeting some dear friends and their two kids for a week of lounging, cooking, knitting, reading, napping, swimming, drawing, card-playing, and of course, a bit of photo taking with my NEW CAMERA!!! Yes, that would be the Canon 5D, to replace my antiquated 20D. Nothing like a week with 5 gorgeous kids to break in the new toy. So this is an official vacation, away from email and phone, and I won’t be returning any messages until after I return, on August 15th. I will post some photos of our trip when I get back. Until then…

And of course I can’t post without a photo. Here’s one of my wee one.
